American Gold Eagle Coins Are Growing In Popularity

The year for the first minting of the US Gold Eagle coin was in 1986. This is a genuine gold coin in the United States verified with the Gold Bullion Act of 1985. This coin comes in various denominations.

The United States Gold Eagle coin is unique because it’s the exclusive gold bullion coin with a guarantee of gold content and weight. The gold has to come from U.S. sources. It’s a fabulous coin to include in all collections, and a definite requirement for collections of gold coins.

The US Gold Eagle comes in four various sizes which are: 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce of real gold. This coin is verified to have the exact weight.

A copper and silver metallic alloy is applied to the US Gold Eagle as a treatment which gives the coin weatherproof protection. Constructed of 22 carat gold, the Gold Eagle has over .916 solid gold content.

Miley Busiek created the image you see on the reverse side of the American Eagle gold coin. The male eagle, carrying an olive branch, is circling a nest containing a female eagle with her newly-hatched chicks.

A United States Gold Eagle coin has a value equal to its gold content and not the face denomination of the coin. The coins are available in four different sizes which have face denominations of $5, $10, $20 or $50. The amount of gold content in each coin then determines its current market price, which fluctuates. Right now the market price is $110, $225, $450 and $900 for the different sizes.

In 1992, the U.S. Mint switched the dates on coins from Roman numerals to Arabic numbers. In most respects, all US Gold Eagle coins are identical to each other, but they differ in the weight and in the face value inscribed on the opposite side of the coin.

Created with gold standards laid down over 300 years ago, the US Gold Eagle coin makes a great investment for coin collectors and gold collectors. The US Gold Eagle is the only coin ever minted by the United States that is guaranteed to match its gold content and its weight. Even after years of ownership, your coin will remain in good condition and a wonderful treasure.
